DALLAS,TX –This year, citizens of Dallas, will make their most critical decisions in decades when they elect six new fellow citizens to the Dallas City Council.
Gerald Britt, an advocate and community leader, will announce his candidacy for the Dallas City Council, District 3 at a Press Conference on Thursday, February 12, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the Dallas Public Library (Hampton-Illinois), 2951 South Hampton, Dallas, TX 75224.
Britt has provided the leadership to implement the following initiatives that improve the quality of life for all citizens.
· Provided low income and affordable housing throughout Southern Dallas
· Designed and developed job training programs for the unemployed and unemployable
· Fought for and helped pass ordinances which regulate pay day and auto title loan stores
· Led efforts to get publicly funded after school programs in schools throughout Dallas
A high profile community advocate, Britt has strong ties to the political, faith-based and business communities of Dallas. He is currently Vice President of Public Policy and Workforce Development for City Square and develops public policy through public awareness initiatives, community organizing and legislative advocacy. He also addresses issues of poverty through social service programming and advocacy.
